Message to students
GATE isn't that tough.Just try to cover the syllabus. All you need is to memorise all the formulas and have your concepts clear.Easier than the entrance exams after 12th class..Best of Luck..

My Experience
I got placed in CESC as a management trainee in AUG 2012 through the on campus recruitment process in BESU,Shibpur. I thought of appearing in GATE for PSUs and not for MTech. But a few months before the exam I came to know that PSUs restricts eye power of candidates to + or - 4 while mine was much more than the specified limits.Since I am a Civil Engineer, I had a doubt about my career in CESC, a reputed electrical company. So after my GATE results I decided to try for MTech and not go for the job. Moreover my parents and my professors told me to increase my educational qualification at first rather than going for jobs..
I had studied thoroughly in my 4 years of BTech. That was enough I guess.I should have memorised the formulas which would have helped me score better.Because during the GATE exam I had to derive a few which took some time.I had completely left the Engineering Maths part as I didn't like it.But trust me the Engg Maths part is the easiest I guess.Because they are all stereo type questions.Try to revise the entire course may be 1.5 to 2 months before the exam(which I should have done but hadn't done).Keep cool and calm during the exams.I guess thats the key to score well because a few of my friends in my college studied really hard and had built up too much expectation on themselves and finally didn't do that well in GATE unfortunately.I didn't go for GATE forum or any such institute.Because my college professors of BESU taught us pretty well.I had bought a book of Made Easy previous years paper and solved a few of those. And before my interviews and written tests for IITs I did study Transportation Engg thoroughly as Transport was my first preference for MTech.Thats it.Good luck.
